Privacy Policy

Doppler’s Outlook is a free weather website. You don’t need an account to use it, and we don’t ask for your name, email address or any other personal details. This page explains what information is collected when you visit and who collects it.
Advertising
This site shows ads from Google AdSense to help pay for it. Google and its partners are third-party vendors, and they use cookies to serve ads based on your earlier visits to this site and to other websites.
- Google’s advertising cookies let Google and its partners show you ads based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
- You can turn off personalized ads in Google’s Ads Settings.
- You can also opt out of other vendors’ cookies for personalized ads at www.aboutads.info (or youronlinechoices.eu in Europe).
- To learn more, see how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
If you visit from a region whose privacy laws require it (such as the European Economic Area, the UK or some U.S. states), you’ll be asked for your choices about advertising cookies before personalized ads are shown.
Your location
Some pages have a “Locate” button that finds the forecast for where you are. It only works if you allow it in your browser. Your position goes straight from your browser to the National Weather Service (and, on the Local forecast page, NOAA’s Regional Climate Centers) to get the forecast. The Night Sky page also loads the forecast file for your area from this site; each file covers a region a few hundred miles across. On the Models page your position is only used inside your browser to mark the map. Place and ZIP code searches happen entirely inside your browser.
The place you pick is remembered in your browser’s local storage, so the pages open to it next time. The storm page also remembers which forecast models you chose to show. This stays on your device: Doppler’s Outlook doesn’t receive or keep your location. Clearing this site’s data in your browser removes it.
Content from other sites
Pages load some content from other services, which receive your IP address and normal browser information when they do:
- Fonts from Google Fonts and map code from cdnjs (Cloudflare).
- Video thumbnails and links from YouTube, and the Facebook page box on the home page from Facebook. Facebook may set its own cookies.
- Weather data and images from government sources such as NOAA and the National Weather Service.
Each of these services has its own privacy policy.
Server logs
Like most websites, our web server and Cloudflare (which protects and speeds up the site) keep short-term technical logs, such as IP addresses, pages requested and browser type. These logs are used only to keep the site running and secure. They aren’t sold or used to identify you.
Children
This site is for a general audience and doesn’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date. Questions? Email [email protected].
